is it possible that you can use a gcube stick instead...

Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

Is it possible to use a gcube thumb stick instead of a n64 thunbstick? Just wondering....

in other words yes, just a lot easier with a "compatible" third party controller

well you can even swap out the official n64 controllers joystick with a third party one ps1/2/gc style one, just harder/more parts required.
