Hey there. I'm considering making my own GCp but need help on clearing a few things up before i go ahead, buy stuff and gut my GC.

I'm considering using:

This Battery
An ordanary 7.5v PSOne Screen


Is it possable to run both the motherboard and the PSOne screen off the same power supply?
Can I wire the battery directly to the motherboard with a switch involved or do I have to use resistance/etc?
Do I have to use the HUGE heat sink or is it ok to remove it?
Is it possable with that kind of battery to charge whilst playing or will the mains power blow the circuitry?

Yes, the screen and console will run on the same battery, but you will need to build a regulator for the screen and I believe the GC has a few voltage lines to build regulators for as well.

You ought to be able to replace the heatsink with a thinner one but still around the same size, but you can't just remove it.

Well is that battery too powerful? I've heard that the GC can run off of 5v.

Yes, the PsOne screen CANNOT run off of twelve volts. You are right about that, however the GC comes with a regulator board. The only one who has accomplished a custom regulator board is Zenloc. The regular one runs off of 12v. The custom one runs on 7V, but it overheats waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much. So you will need a regulator for the screen, but the battery is just fine.

The fact that it can run off of only 5v only matters if you build your own custom regulator, which in the end isn't really worth it. Your battery is fine.

So I could parrallel both the gc regulator for the motherboard and a step down converter from 12v to 7.5v for the screen off the same battery?

Yep. That's what I did with my DCp. It's not the most energy efficient thing you can do but you have to do what you have to do...
