lcd questions

Is there anything to worry about when using a completely aluminum case, nothing covering it? With ground wires attached to it and everything. Shorting anything? I am using a case I made for a gateway 17" I believe the same one Ben used.

Was also wondering if slicing the inverter from the power supply can be done with any monitor as they all look different. How can you Identify the two sides and the connections needed?

The bottom half of the case for the 360 is not metal, I wasn't sure if the motherboard had to be sitting on metal?

Very close to completing my xbox 360 laptop so I appreciate any help

the motherboard for the 360 doesn't need to be on metal if the plastic is sturdy enough. Although, if the plastic is sensitive to heat, make sure you have it protected on the bottom so it doesn't warp or anything.

there's nothing wrong with having a completely metal case as long as you're sure there's nothing touching it other than ground and there's nothing exposed that could connect a circuit and short it out.

Just the metal around the screen and two ground wires from the screen's inverter and psu will be touching it. well one ground wasn't a wire but a loop coming off the inverter used to be attached to lcd case :S guess it's ground, dunno why there would be two, though.

Oh and is Ben the only one to put half of a lcd PSU into a separate case? I may not need to do it but Just wondering.

tape a sheet of paper down to protect it so there's no question, but I'm thinking there wouldn't be a problem. and as far as I know, there's never been anyone else to separate the board like that.
