MegaDrive 2 & HDD
Is it possible to add an harddisc to megadrive2? and if it's possible, can we redesign it to play also genesis roms?

Re: MegaDrive 2 & HDD
but this is not a sufficient answer
you know it's possible to create a cartridge which can contain more than one game. so, for example, if we add an output, to hdd, which is suitable to cartridge hole of the console. is it so impossible to make a software to work md2 with an hdd.

An HDD is impossible, but there are SMS flash carts available. They run around $80. I don't think it's possible to run Genesis Roms on an SMS, though.

All you need is one of those and find a IDE to SD adaptor and bingo! Genesis with HDD.
There's a lot of SD to IDE but I'm having a hard time finding the other way around...

Re: MegaDrive 2 & HDD
thanks everybody, especially wallydawg, hackmodford.
@hackmodford: but even if i can do this, i mean finding a converter at same number of pins. don't i have to make some changings in software of the system. does every adapter work with same software principles?(sorry i'm not much educated on electronics, i hope i could explain my suspects)

Re: MegaDrive 2 & HDD
Well IDE is what your computer uses to connect harddrives dvd drives cd drive etc,
SD cards are SD cards.
IDE is IDE
So if you can find an adaptor that goes from SD to IDE in theory it should work and I don't see why not.
But finding an adaptor that does that is another question... Who would need such an adaptor?
IDE to SD is another story. Many people would like to sd an internal SD card slot to their computer and the best way to do that is to use the IDE cables inside your computer.
I really doubt these things work backwards.
=====================================================
Now doing some more thinking I came to the startleing revelation... why use a HDD?
Just put this thing in a Genesis shell and call it good! you could even put a fake cart in the to make it look like you've got a SD-Gen cart
Hopefully this thing can take two controllers...
Just buy one of these things. Hack it into a Genesis

I don't think they exist. In truth, there's not a whole lot of reason to have an IDE connector that plugs into an SD slot. Not with SDXCs coming out that go up to 2TB.
