I dont have the slightest clue what materials i need to resoder the traces on a circuit. Is there any step by step instructions or photos on how to do this. it would also be helpful if some one could breakdown where to cut on a n64 remote .Can some one help me?

You just cut the board, then solder a wire between the two halves of each cut trace to reconnect them.

As for where to cut, go for parts where there are traces you can solder back to, and where there aren't parts in the way. The controller board only has the two sides (no multiple layers inside, like many more complicated boards have), so what you see is all that's there. (Sorry if this is kind of vague, I don't have an N64 controller board to look at.)
