Replacement for blown transformer?

I decided to test my 15" lcd after taking it apart with my 360, I was stupid and forgot to plug in some cables of the lcd into the power supply and one of the coils burnt up when I powered it up. There's two copper coils in a little black square, I can't seem to find a replacement for it anywhere.

It was only one of the coils that burnt, the one joined to it is fine. But I guess they are connected so they both have to be replaced, unless it will be fine with one?

Even though it has numbers on the side, after doing searches on it, there are no results.

It was a dell desktop monitor.

I forgot about plugging in the side wires because I was testing it to see what's wrong with the backlight, so that's two things I now need to fix. -.-

So you... took apart your tv... with your xbox 360...

Personally, I would have done it with a screwdriver.

Sounds like you messed up a transformer. The copper coils you talk about are enamel-coated or otherwise insulated from each other. short them, and you just get one big turn instead of many small turns. This alters the output voltage on the other coil significantly. Read up a little on induction.

Your options are not practical. Either you replace the power supply, or you replace the coil (by measuring the gauge of the wire and the number of turns, and replicating that with enameled copper wire), or you use another method to provide the input voltage(s) needed.

That last one would work if there's only one initial input voltage. Just find out what voltage is required, or guess. Get a 12+ volt power supply, hook up a potentiometer to it, and SLOWLY decrease resistance (starting from max resistance, ie. 0 volts) until it turns on when you press the power button. That's the voltage you need.

Thanks Kurt_ even though it was obvious I'm using the lcd for my xbox, not to open it, and to make a smaller case for it (the lcd, not the screwdriver that I used to open the lcd... for the xbox) -.- and I was sure I gave enough info, sorry :\

1. The reason for that is because you didn't even bother to read my post so why did you post? If you did read it you wouldn't have said that.
2. You didn't help BEFORE I said that, and you didn't help when I asked several other questions in other topics. So what difference is me saying that going to make? You act like that was my first post. And I assure you I'm not one to start a project and not finish it, I've been working on it for a month. You were the wrong person to reply to what I said anyway, it wasn't posted toward you.
