The time has finally come to part with this little beast! I have to say right off the bat that this laptop has some issues that effect usability I will be trying to see what i can do for it but the internal LCD does not work properly it just displays a red tinted mess of lines, this is because the ribbon cable on these laptops go bad, its replaceable but the problem is GETTING the replacement part. it does work perfectly beyond this minor issue, the only other problem is the fan not shutting off but i will be addressing that when i take it apart again.

I am looking to get 500$ for the laptop or trade for a 13" macbook preferablly 2ghz and 2gb ram, but would consider the 1.8ghz/1gb model as well. For those who dont know this laptop is 920$ shipped with XP installed new from dynamism, or 800 without an OS! so 500$ even with the problems it has is a hell of a deal! also the macbook i want runs around 450-500$ on ebay after shipping so its an even trade!

I am a little bit interested, seems like a good base for my HMD project.

I do not have a Macbook, but I do have one of the highest end iBooks, 12", fully loaded. Are you at all interested in that? I also have a fully max'd out HP DV6000.

I might do a partial cash+laptop trade, too, but not $500, I think. I might be more interested if I knew more about the ribbon cable, is there any place that sells them? Is it part of the screen, or can you just get a ribbon cable?

The ribbon cable isnt part of the screen its a seperate piece, and as far as i know other than taking it out of an existing laptop there is not currently a source for the ribbons, people have been trying to find a source for this part for a while. these laptops rarely show up on ebay. The one you linked is the baseline model that retails for ~600$ mine is the D60H which retails like i said in the first post, for about 800-900$ when you could still get them at retail. the three D60H models i saw one was buy it now for 650, one sold for nearly 600, and the third sold for 700. 100-200$ under ebay market value sounds reasonable to me!

not really interested in an ibook, or an HP, if I'm going to trade it would be straight across for a macbook as i said in the first post, not really interested in any other laptops unless its something interesting and at least dual core 1.8ghz or higher and 12" or less

BUMP! Just because of my pressing need for money i am willing to drop the price to 475$ shipped. At that price point i wont do anything to the laptop so you would need to redo the headsink stuff yourself, i will include a cheapass screwdriver set and a thing of artic silver!

If it was working properly it wouldn't be 450$. find a source for the LCD ribbon cable and your in business! I'm already losing over 200$ selling it for 450$! use it for a carPC, or a desktop replacement you can stick in your pocket, tons of possible uses for a computer this small and powerful, LCD or no

I would get it, but Im in college so I wouldnt have the time to worry about fixing the screen. But I do like this umpcs/ laptop in the only one good enough to play games on like halo and tf2
