Re: Serious question.
I never said he was.
I just meant that self-medicating in this manner can be potentially dangerous and it's very easy to get hooked on that stuff.

which i agree with fully, but the wording of your post was a lot more harsh than actually coming out and saying "self-medicating in this manner can be potentially dangerous and it's very easy to get hooked on that stuff."

My two cents:
Taking drugs recreationally is perfectly acceptable if you have the ability to know when it's getting out of hand, and the ability to cut back or stop when you realize this. It's not something to be taken lightly, keep a close eye on yourself. Or get some friends to. However, drugs can do some crazy things.

I don't care what the circumstances are, I don't care if you make it away from the drugs healthy, they should not under any circumstances be take. If you need someone to watch over you, chances are it's not something you should be doing.

Re: Serious question.
Well, I guess now we know what happens when you assume...
Problem is I was drawing too much on personal experience for the ADD. I have the same problem (among others), and still catch myself getting distracted sometimes. However, because medication didn't solve the problem, I had to work at it and deal with the issue myself. Yes it's difficult at first but now I do okay. Back in middle school they put me on Adderal, which displaced the "can't concentrate because ooh shiny" with constant fatigue. Tried a different med (or a different dose of Adderal, I forget), and it worked for a while. However, after that brief time, it stopped working and they had to give me a higher dosage. That caused the same drowsiness problem as before, so I stopped taking the stuff. It took several weeks after that to get back to normal. I don't know, maybe VV's ADD is more severe than mine. That was just the way I learned how to cope with mine.

Re: Serious question.
I have found out a new disorder. It's called Social Anxiety Disorder. http://www.webmd.com/anxiety-panic/guid ... y-disorder" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . And can you guys guess what they usually use for this disorder? Xanax. So technically I have been doing exactly what I should do. I was talking with my parents and I think that we've come to the conclusion that I don't really have ADD. I think my whole life a I have legitimately had anxiety. I never EVER want to go to school dances. I only have like 1 set of friends and I usually don't like to meet new people. Public bathrooms just scare me, especially urinal's when theres another person next to me. Also I cant talk on the phone for more than 5 minutes without wanting to hang up the phone. I haven't had a girlfriend in over 2 years and my life is kind of spiraling downwards. I just want to live a normal life. I don't like that I can't meet new people without me having my chest pound and me worrying about what they think of me. So I think I am going to get a prescription for Xanax this Friday and start seeing a therapist. My mother suggested Xanax too because she said it helped her friend immensely. I'm sorry I'm spilling my whole life story on you guys, its just a very tough time in my life right now. =[

Re: Serious question.
I still recommend clonazepam before xanax unless you have extremely severe anxiety. like panic attacks that feel like heart attacks, fainting, and stuff like that.

Re: Serious question.
As someone with Social Anxiety Disorder and a prescription for Xanax, I'd like to point something out. Xanax was NOT meant to be a daily/constant treatment. It is highly addictive, and overly frequent use does cause liver problems. Xanax is meant to boost a daily treatment when the user is in a high-stress occasional situation. I only use it in certain crowded situations, and never for more than a week of daily use.
I am glad to hear you are going to see a doctor and a therapist. Make sure you sign all release papers so that they can communicate everything they're doing to treat you. It's always good to have all your help know what the other help is doing. Please be completely honest with both your doctor and your therapist. Explain that you have tried Xanax, and tell them everything that you've told us. You might get a bit of grief for taking someone else's drugs, as it is still illegal, but they should both be willing to listen to you and help you feel how you want to feel. If they aren't, they aren't the doctor or therapist for you. Heck, in your position, I'd even tell them that you've tried marajuana. If it had an effect on you that honestly helped you, they can help you find something that will do the same thing without the side effects.
Most importantly, though, be willing to make up your mind to help yourself. Yes, the drugs will make you feel better, it's what they do. But in order to truly overcome what drags you down, you also need to decide you want to feel good. Please don't decide that if you're in a rough spot that the drugs aren't working. Talk to your doctor and therapist, and let them help you decide if it's a fault with the drugs, or just something you need help to cope with. They are there to help you live a quality life, but it will take some determination on your part. Be open with them, and trust them to do their job. If you honestly feel that you can't trust them, try a different doctor or therapist. They will also probably tell you that you do need to think through this to help yourself, but that shouldn't mean you won't need something to help your mind focus and work on it.
I hope something in here might help you. Feel free to PM me if you'd like to talk, and you think something I said is worth hearing. Good luck!

EDIT: Changed it. Happy now, Triton?
Do you have a source to back up that smoking weed and tobaco in combination is what killed him?

Uh...

I know he had lung and throat cancer, and he smoked both quite a bit in his life. I think his official COD was lung cancer. Smoking anything will cause problems eventually, especially if it becomes a regular habit.

Re: Serious question.
In my opinion, taking drugs is "ooh mah problems are gone lol" but what you actually make those problems bigger and you waste time in actually *fixing* them.

Re: Serious question.
Actually, I feel taking drugs to 'solve' problems goes more like this. I thought of this the other week.
Stage 1: A person starts doing drugs recreationally.
Stage 2: The person loses track of how often he's using drugs, and may not realize he's doing it so often. Meanwhile, reality is becoming incresaingly hectic.
Stage 3: Due to drug use, the person's life has started to fall in to a state of disarray. The person uses drugs as an escape.
Stage 4: Upon sobering up, the person realizes his life is worse than before he got high last, and feeling like he can't/doesn't want to deal with it right away, uses more drugs as an escape.
Repeat Stage 4.

Re: Serious question.
If you have a legitimate reason to get a prescription for Xanax, go for it but use it as sparingly as possible. The only drug I know of that you can use consistently for you whole life without significant health effects is weed. Go for sativa strains because indica is what makes you lazy. BTW, it doesn't cause cancer, it cures it (this is why despite smoke being carcinogenic, you never hear of any deaths/cancer being attributed to pot).

Re: Serious question.
I find that doing a lot of weed regularly leaves me in a haze. I can't remember when I got high last, I care less about most things, and I feel a little out of it all the time. Friends notice the difference. It starts to get pretty obvious.
I've been keeping track of my usage the last month or two, since it's summer, it started getting a little out of hand.
In twelve days, I got high eight of them. This was enough to leave me in a fuzz for a few days after. It actually feels better now that it's leaving my system. I might also want to point out that after two weeks of moderately heavy use, the peak of the high lasts like twenty minutes, where it used to last two hours.
Out of all the things I've tried, I like sobriety the best.
Mind you, I haven't tried heroin yet.
