Battery and Voltage Question

I have a 8.5v PS2 slim and a Intec 5.4" screen that was originally made for the PS2. It runs off 12 volts.

My question is, what voltage battery do i need? and do i need an inverter or capacitor?

Well If I were you I would buy one 12v Li-ion battery and plugit to th intec and get a 8.5v regulator. Or buy 2 12v battery and solder them in parrarel so you can add the mAh ( meaning its duration time).... Its up to you.

Chances are high that the screen runs off of a lower voltage, maybe the voltage even goes to a 7805. The 12v is probably so you can use it in your car. Open the screen up and see where the power line goes. You may be able to use a smaller battery, even 11.1v will front you a slightly smaller battery with the same Ah capacity.

i like the first guys idea. But may i ask what kind of regulator do i need? Can you give me a link for one?

umm.. ill see If can find a link were you can buy a regulator like the one I mentioned... I recomend ebay or amazon, if you want cheap ones.

First you should open up your screen. A 12v 5000 mAh battery will be larger than an 11.1v 5000 mAh battery. You may even be able to find a 9v battery. I'm pretty darn sure your screen does not use 12v, the voltage in goes to a regulator, perhaps a 7805. If that is so, you can go as low as 7.2v for your screen, but you need a little bit moar than that. No use making your portable bigger than it has to be because of some beefy batteries you don't need.

not sure what i was looking for on the board. but the wires go directly into an input onto the board. dosnt say anything. But there a yellow type thing off to the side that looks kind of like a battery. it has i think a plastic or rubber coating around it.

next to it on the board it says PCB-CMV54-MP
