Wanted to get for nearly free: CD R/W Drive Diode

Post by Kurt_ »

Hey all. For one of my projects I require an IR laser diode. I've torn apart as many drives in my house I feel I can afford destroying, but all I've gotten is weak or dead IR diodes.

I was hoping someone with a CD Burner that runs at a high speed (52x, 48x) could take out the diode for me and send it my way. We can negotiate pricing.

Basically, you're looking for a three-pinned brass-coloured thing in the middle assembly that slides on the two steel rails. Follow the mirrors and you'll find it.

ASAP is preferred. If you just send me the diode in an envelope in some protection like duct tape I'll send you $1 or so via paypal.
