Battery Question

How exactly should I play on getting these contacts of of these batteries: (It's from the 360 wireless pack, I'm gonna replace the batteries with regular engergizers)

Should I apply some heat with a soldering iron? Is it held on by solder?

I plan on just super gluing the contacts to the case so that I can just pop batteries in and out.

(Just need to get the contacts out first)

Usually those tabs are either stamped or spot welded on.

How about cannibalizing a Rat Shack battery holder for its terminals?

I just pried they off with a flat head, and super glued them in place. I tried using some batteries, but it wouldn't work, but I think it's because they were low on charge. (recharging them now)

Does it matter which way they are in? I know they have to be opposite, but does it actually matter?
