Quick Voltage and Inverter/Capacitor Question

This is dvd players battery i will be using, it runs at 12 volts and last about 2 and a half hours. Its very thin and small so its perfect for my project.

The console im using it on is a portable playstation 2. The adaptor on the ps2 says it runs at 8.5v and my screen runs at 7.5v. So im gonna need some recommendations on a capacitor or inverter. Wichever i need. I know nothing about changing wattage to different appliances.

All i know is how to build it, not wich parts i need. Im on the last part of my roject where all i need a rechargeable battery, and i think i found it. But i do need to lower the voltage from it.

You Could run it through a 7808 but that would be VERY inefficient. Your best bet is to use a switching regulator from texas instruments. Very easy to use and easy on batteries.

It would be a better idea to get a 7.4v battery that is the proper voltage to begin with. By changing one voltage to another you will always loose some power. For a ps2 and screen, you will be using so much power that the regulator required starts to get bulky. Or hot, or both.

Switching regulators cost about $10-15 each, are pretty complicated, and fairly breakable. They work well if you choose the right one, and there are several thousand to choose from. We know how to scam some for free, but if you dont know how to select the right one or use it, you might want to stick to (inefficient) linear regulators.

Would a 7.4 volt battery even be able to run a 8.5v PS2 slim? i mean i think i found a universal rechargeable battery that i like. and it 9 volts. if i would get a 7.4v battery, point me in the right direction of one. Or maybe a link to one that is 7.4v and can last at least 2 hours if game play.

Also im not sure if the screen im using is 7.5 volt. I scrapped it a long time ago and dont have the adapter that plugs into the wall. All i know is that it was originally designed for the PS2, and it was made by Intec. Its a 5.4" screen.

Also i went to the Intec website and there is no information on the product or on any other non-official website. That i can find at least,
