Fixing Coca-Cola damaged electronics?

My Ipod got Coke damage, and about 4 hours after it happened I tried plugging it in to see if it would even turn on, and it did for about 10 seconds.

Anyways, It hasn't turned on since or been recognized by my computer. So I figured maybe I fried the battery somehow and that's why it won't even turn on. Will an Ipod boot up even if there's no battery attached but its plugged in?

Its an Ipod nano 2g, and I guess I don't expect anyone on the forums to have detailed info on weather or not an Ipod would boot without the battery, but I guess its worth a shot.

Oh yeah, this happened 1-2 months ago, and I disassembled it so its had plenty of time to dry out.

yeah, if you get a ipod or phone wet never turn it on right after getting it wet? Do you want to get shocked?

You always wait 1-3 days for it to completetly dry and turn it on.


Also, I had the samething happen to me. I got it wet in the washer and tried to turn it on didn't work. Waited three or so, days for it to completely dried and it worked.

well it wasn't dripping water, It was shaken out, and it sat in a hot car for about 4 hours, so I figured it wouldn't completely kill it.

...Just remembered something. My bro tried turning it on to see if it worked right after it happened. Maybe that damaged it a little too.

There is probably still moisture that is bypassing something inside. As strange as it sounds, hold it up to your nose and get a good wiff of it, like out of the charging jack. If you can detect any sort of burn smell, there may be a problem.

If you get electronics wet, never, ever, EVER try to turn them on. Ever.

Oh, and lucky you, I do know if they will boot with no battery. The answer is yes, so no luck for you.

Most likely, you killed something when it was powered on while still moist. Apple does not put fuses in the Nanos, so you are probably pretty screwed.

Water + electronics = bad
Water + sugar + electronics = very bad
Turning on when board has water, moisture or sugar on it is fry time
Would have been best to open the boards from the casing, left in airing cupboard for a week, then tried it.
