DVD Player Disc Read Error

I've been working on fixing a DVD/TV combo. The original problem was that the disc wouldn't spin. The spin motor was burned out. I went through my box of motors, found one with the same voltage, diameter, everything. Matched up perfectly. Unfortunately, before I could get the player back together, I got called out. When I came back a little while later, a very stupid idiot friend of mine had picked up the laser part, and found those little potentiometers on the back. She was messing around with them and a screwdriver.

I need to know if there's any way to find out what the original resistance on them would have been before she got her hands on it. Does anyone have any idea how I could find that out? The back casing of the TV has a Magnavox sticker, but the chips on the DVD player say Panasonic. I couldn't find a model number on the DVD player, and the startup screen all says "Magnavox".

I don't think you'll find the original resistances, those are likely there to address manufacturing differences. There might be traces of glue or paint left to hold/mark the position when it left the factory. If n o traces of glue or paint, it looks like you're going to have to keep trying different values until it works.

I can tell you that DVD players run at about 0.1W of power, even though they're capable of much more. Crank it down until you get to roughly this point, then crank it up a little until your worst DVD works.

At least, that's what I would try. Start from the bottom and work your way up.

I was afraid it'd come to that. I guess I'll dial them down, and adjust one at a time, going by quarter-turns or something. Thanks for the help. I do appreciate it.
