how many volts can a DS take before it gets fried?

i was wondering because i was making a custom charger out of a USB cord and an old phone charger. but it worked and nothing is wrong with it :p

The power fuse will blow at 6.2v, I tested this one time. Bridged the fuse, worked fine, not gonna try it again now that it has no fuse protection.
