Possible PSP mod......

Post by Gamelver »

I've been thinking a lot about trying to add a second analog nub to the PSP......now, this would be pretty damn hard, but I think it COULD be done.....first, I would somehow have to get a second analog nub or a sliding stick that is very similar to the one on the PSP. this alone would be pretty damn hard. next, I'd have to probably replace the DC in jack with a smaller jack to accomodate for the analog nub. third, and most important besides getting an extra nub, is that I'd have find out how the nub works. There are four contacts on it, so perhaps there is one for each direction or something.....once I somehow figure out how the sliding sticks work, I'll proceed to wire it to the PSP...what exactly would I wire it to? the O,X,/\, and [] buttons of course!!!! you see, on games like Coded Arms(a FPS), it uses the face buttons on the right of the unit for aiming (or you can set it to something else) but I'd like to be able to use an analog stick for aiming ;)....so, it'd basically be doubling the right face buttons, only with an analog stick....so, anyone think this could actually be done, or have I gone mad :P?
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

You're crazy!

Really, if you screw up, that's a waste of a PSP. It doesn't make much sense to do all these difficult things for one game for an expensive piece of equipment.

I'll be honest with you - I would have never guessed that.

On the other hand, if it works, you'll be praised for making it work, and having the guts to crack it open!

If you did, you should take measurements and pictures of the innards, for others who might want to see how to safely open up there PSP.

to tell you the truth, I'm not seriously thinking about doing it myself, but I would just like to see if it COULD be done....theoretically ;).......so I'm gonna do a good bit of research and stuff on it and maybe I'll save up for a second PSP to try it on....if I don't screw up, I'll sell my old PSP and keep my new dual analog stick PSP :), and if it screws up, well, then I'll have an extra PSP to experiment on ....
