Post by ArghMonkey »

I own the Play TV Tetris handheld game, its a small unit in a big BIG controller, ripe for modding? I dunno ...

Ive searched the intertubes and cant find anyone who has hacked this, have you? or have you seen it done?

My guess would be either an NOAC, GOAC, or custom core.

Not really useful, unlikely that you can add a cart slot, or add in the remaining buttons. Can you take it apart and give us some pics of the main board?

It's a TV plug'n'play very similar to the ones I hacked before on one of my old projects. Nothing special, composite output.

Aside from adding a screen, batteries, and a case (making a portable version of that game), there isn't a whole lot you can do with those. They're designed to just run one particular game, and 99% of the time there are no pins to solder a cart slot to even if it does imitate an old console. (They most likely have some special proprietary architecture, so they don't have to worry about legal issues.)

it would be cool to make a handheld tetris console.
oh wait, didn't nintendo do it with the original gameboy?
here's another idea i doubt many people have thought of - you could turn it into an arcade machine! when they put in a coin, it turns on. or you could take another plug 'n' play system with more games and do the same idea! it could be an awesome build if you have carpentry skills and you could sell it to make a huge profit on it!
