That happens when that plastic compound gets hit with UV radiation for a long time. Most likely, that particular unit was left in a sunny area for a long time. (The same thing happened with early Macintosh computers.) The yellowing doesn't harm the circuitry at all.

That's why Krylon invented plastic-safe spray paint. 8)

Yeah, simply, it's just aging...I'd suggest selling on eBay as being possesed. $$$

lol! always a great way to make cash. did you see that one of the haunted stich doll that went for $11,100? no typo, that is Eleven thousand, one hundred dollars for a "Stitch" doll that was "haunted". The person DID put up some nice "evidence" for believers...

nice one! in all seriousness, however, i'd clean up the eyes a bit and save that pic! you could make some nice cash on it from ebayers who believe this sort of stuff.

Nintendo changed the "recipe" for the plastic that was used for the SNES halfway through the manufacturing period, which caused it to look like somebody rubbed a highlighter on it to make it look yellow. I (fortunatly) have one that doesn't have that problem, and yes, I am happy about it!

Any of my old nes and snes cases only turned yellow when my parents smoked. Any nes or snes I got after they stopped never turned yellow.

Mine's all yellow like that, and our household is smokefree.

have you looked a c64's lately? all the ones I see are yellow like that. The demon snes is actually a good idea, it could probably fetch $1500 or so :D
