Re: sd or hdd for dreamcast?
If you need to ask this, you very likely do not have the skills to complete the HDD mod, as it is very complex and involved. As for the SD mod, it has a part list.True Crime! wrote:what for cable, processors, resistors, capacitor .... do i need for this mod?

Re: hdd for dreamcast?
look at this thread. http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=31160" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
In the links it shows a completed hdd adapter. You'll notice that its massive and it would be so much easier to burn your homebrew to discs. It looks like he was working on some sort of homebrew launcher but I'm not sure if it was actually released.
I'm glad I didn't even start to try the project because after I gather up all the parts and do all the work I probably would have thought something along the lines of.... "wow with all the money and time put into this I probably could have just bought a spindle of cd-r's that would have taken up half as much space."

1. the gd-rom drive will don't be messed up, because of the cd-rs'
2. the gd-rom drive needs much power. i want to portablize my dreamcast, so i would preffer a hdd

Re: hdd for dreamcast?
You have to start the interface using a burned disc that needs to be left in the drive, negating both of the arguments you give for having one. I actually never found the program/method for loading games from it, I have found only a version of BSD that is capable reading/writing to the drive.True Crime! wrote:can i play homebrews from the hdd? and how does i control the hdd?
