7 segment display??

Post by hotfootball2000 »

I found a type of 7 segment display inside of a computer case. It has a 1 then two 7 segment displays, It has pins on the back that you bridge to make it say stuff. It takes 5v, but my 6v battery works. My question is does anyone know what it is called, and how hard would it be to find the cable that connects it to the computer, Because I would like to put it into my new case.

If needed i could post pictures.

it was for displaying clock speed on 486 machines. it will not work on anything else without extra controller circuitry

Err, you got it working off batteries but you don't know how to power it off a computer power supply? Odd gap of knowledge. Just take a Y splitter for drives (4 pin molex), and cut off one male end and use the wiring from it. Red= 5Volts, black=ground (either will work). Yellow is 12Volts, BTW. Make sure you insulate the ends you aren't using, so that they can't short against anything.

Those images are killing my browser and my internet connection. Could you please reduce the size of the images to, say, half of what it is now?
