How to put images in your posts

Post by goodie »

I've noticed that quite a few people don't know how to put images in their posts, so I thought I'd make this little How-To for them:

Step 1:
Start your web browser.
Image

Step 2:
In the address bar, type:
www.imageshack.us
Image

Step 3:
You will see this page:
Image
Click on the Browse button.

Step 4:
Find the image you want, and double-click it.
Image

Step 5:
Click the Host it! button.
Image

Step 6:
You will see this:
Image

Click inside the box that says Direct Link to Image
Image

Step 7:
Once the text is highlighted, right-click it and choose Copy.
Image

Step 8:
Come here and begin to make a post:
Image

Step 9:
Click the Img button.
Image

Step 10:
Right-click and choose Paste.
Image

Step 11:
Click the Img button again.
Image

Step 12:
Continue typing, if you want.
Image

Step 13:
Click Submit.
Image

And then you're done!

well, less quality=smaller file=less bandwidth...

And yes, they could be 1 bit bitmap files.

The images don't even cost Ben any bandwidth... They're hosted offsite, so it doesn't really even matter.

I think he was pointing out that the images kinda look like the screen was in 256 color mode.

Ahhh, that's why they look bad.

They're GIFs compressed to the 64 web-safe color mode, pattern dither, non-selective palette. Gotta love ImageReady!

Actually, they don't look so bad. If they were JPEGs compressed to that size, the text would be illegible.

Yeah, I used GIF's so our unlucky dial-up users wouldn't have to wait so long.

Poor G-Force... I had to suffer Dial-Up once, with Dial-Up, the page takes so damn long to load, you forgot what website you were on.

www.imageshack.us now redirects to www.imageshack.ws . What's up with that?
