I found something called "wire glue" can someone check it?

Do you have a technical question that doesn't really fit a specific console? Want some general info on electronics, hacking, making cookies, etc? Here's the place to ask! Go nuts.

I found something online called "wire glue" that claims to be a glue-like alternative to solder. I'm thinking of using it for a ps1p, as I have no soldering experience. Does anyone know if it works or not? Thanks.

It looks fine for loose soldering (like the "LED and a battery holder" 'project' they show), but there's nothing keeping it from bridging connections on circuit boards, and there's absolutely no way to use that stuff on surface-mount components.

You're much better off learning how to solder properly. It's not hard; just get an inexpensive iron at Radio Shack (preferably something with a good tip that's around 25w), some thin solder (easier to control), and something disposable to practice on. Find something like an old dial-up modem or small radio at Goodwill and use that.

Thanks :D I'll eventually learn how to solder AND get some of this stuff for the loose parts

You'll pick it up pretty quickly. It's not too hard.

I wish this stuff worked for more practical work.

Ahhh, a man can dream.

I was just thinking that this wouldn't be a bad idea for quick soldering and you wouldn't have to wait for your iron to heat up, but then I saw "dries overnight." that sucks. who wants to wait overnight for two wires to be joined together when solder cools in seconds? but it would be pretty cool otherwise. :)

I wouldn't want to use it on small things like installing modchips or making rapid fire controllers, but for bigger things it might be more useful.

I don't think anything could beat a person that is skilled with a soldering iron.
