I've heard about it being done with ipods. has it ever been done to a psp? I just installed a bigger speaker in my psp and I want to see how loud I can get it before it starts peaking out. I got the speaker out of some voice recorder / playback box thing from a garage sale for 50 cents so it doesn't mean a whole lot to me if it breaks, its easily replaceable.
pics later, maybe.
edit: from what I've read its basically not possible.

The PSP can only provide so much power. You just need a simple op-amp circuit, and you can blow the roof off!

Excellent
Re: uncapping psp volume?
There is a mod you can do involving the LM386 audio amplifier that will make it possible to install a 3rd, larger speaker in the psp. Also, the psp's speaker can only handle so much before it will blow out, and the quality will get significantly worse, so be careful with palmertech's method.

hears what it looks like. I haven't sanded down the edges to the speaker cover yet and all of the screw holes look different shaped but....

I think I screwed up my screen a little but that's for a different thread. If I get my screen figured out I'll try doing something like you said Palmer.
