How to test a PSOne screen?

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

How to test a PSOne screen?

Post by jimmycuff »

I purchased a screen the other day but I don't have a power connector for it...
I was messing with it a little earlier to try and power it (heard a little buzzing but that's about it...)

Now it doesn't buzz or anything. :/

What's an easy way to power this thing up and test it? What would be displayed on it if I did successfully power it up?

Thanks for any help!

On a brighter note, last night I was able to connect a 72pin connector to my Power Joy! :D

Pending you have a bit of luck, the easiest way is just to get a power brick intended to power a PSOne screen. If you're unlucky, you need to tie a couple of the pins (not sure off the top of my head, should be in a FAQ somewhere) in the multi-A/V connector together, to make it think a PSOne is connected. When properly powered without a video source, nothing is displayed, however, pressing the buttons for volume or brightness brings up a green bar on the screen.
