Genesis controller port?

Hey guys, I figured this would be the best place to go because you guys know your systems inside and out pretty darn well. I got 5 sega genesis(es) at a fleamarket, loose of course, for 1$, yes 1$. So I was looking to sell these, loose or complete. I found a potential Buyer for the only High Definition Graphics logo system I have. Originally as I was looking it over/cleaning it up I noticed the pins for controller port 2 were bent. I bent them back and now that port works fine. Now the 1st controller port which has perfect pins DOESNT work, Left, A, and B will not work. So could someone tell me what could be broken? I really want to fix this one up!

Well, here's the pinout for a Genesis controller port:

Open up the Sega in question and check to see if you broke any of the solder points behind controller port 1. If you have a multimeter, you can check the specific pins/buttons that aren't working for continuity.

I just checked all the solder points for continuity ( I had it on the setting where if it beeps it means it holds a signal which means its ok right? sorry just a tiny bit of a noob at this stuff) so strangely enough ALL the solder points looked it tact, and beeped when I used the multimeter.

That is strange. Do you know if port 1 was working before you adjusted the pins for port 2?

Also, check (with the multimeter) to see if there's continuity from each pin to its corresponding black box behind the ports. I believe the black boxes say EMXX on them (where XX is a number).

Well I tested all the pins to there respective black boxes, and these two had no continuity to ANYTHING so, if you guys could help me from here it would be appreciated.
