Re: i am not getting any video
There could be number of different problems. Not enough power, batteries not charged, bad power wire.
One of the most overlooked things though is the jumper pak or expansion pak. A lot of people forget to put it back in after doing testing and what not.

Is your video grounded properly? Do you get any audio? Actually, it's probably the jumper/exp pak like thewise1 said. Check if your game is in backwards too.thewise1 wrote:There could be number of different problems. Not enough power, batteries not charged, bad power wire.

Re: i am not getting any video
i have put the expansion pak in the slot, and the game is not in backwards. the video may or may not be grounded. all i know is that i connected the 4 wires in skyone's diagram from the screen to the main circuit board. is there anything i need to do with them? how do i ground them?
if the screen turns on but i get no video, the screen probably does not need to be replaced, right?
thank you very very much for your help.

Re: i am not getting any video
It's definitely not your screen if the volume/brightness buttons work, and it should be grounded if you connected pin four on the psone screen correctly. Have you tried multiple games? Perhaps it's just that one

Re: i am not getting any video
well that is good news.
i have tried two games, both of which work fine with a n64 that has not been hacked.
do you think it could be something wrong with the n64 board? the red led switch turns on though...
i don't think it is the battery, i get all the correct voltages in the right places.
thanks again

Re: i am not getting any video
Did you tie the grounds of the screen and n64 together?
If you tried that and it still doesn't work try hooking it up to a normal tv and see if it works then, if it works and we know the psone screen is working then we know that there is a problem with your wiring.

Connect an old composite yellow plug (or white/red, doesn't matter), strip the wire, connect the bare strands of wire to the grounding on your N64 board and the thin wire in the yellow plug to the composite output on the N64 board. You can then plug your N64 video into your television to test.luke_hankins wrote:how would i go about hooking it up to a regular tv?
As others have said, there can be various reasons you don't get video and audio not working. Audio can just be that the headphone L, R and switch aren't connected together, but if video and audio are not on it can be a number of reasons, including:
N64 not grounded to screen
wires too thin to the N64 for power - you can get the LED showing but not enough amperage to run the system
batteries not got enough amperage - recharge them
game cart slot wired backwards or top>bottom row and not top>top row, for example - check!
Re: i am not getting any video
okay i tested it on a tv and it did not work. i have not relocated the cartridge slot yet, and the game is definitely not in backwards, so that cannot be the problem.
also i am certain that the wiring is not the problem. the wires that i used i got from a n64 controller.
i am thinking about getting a new battery.
any other suggestions before i do?
thanks.

Try running the n64 with the original power supply, if it works then it means that there is something wrong with the batteries.

Re: i am not getting any video
okay i tried that. still nothing.
so i had everything hooked up for it to be portable, but now i have it hooked to the way it originally was, with the tv and the wall outlet. thank you for all your help.
i guess i will need to get another n64.
thanks for everything.
