I'd suggest padding them on all sides in order to keep the components from being damaged. I wouldn't bother desoldering unless it cuts down considerable amounts of space.
Nobody save ANY electrolytic capacitors without testing them first unless the application for them isn't very picky about capacitance... The capacitors get old, dry up, and change capacitance levels over time. New ones are OK though... (DUH!)
I heard this from a man who designs and troubleshoots amplifiers for Rockford Fosgate. He is so good with electronics, you wouldn't believe it.

The box is going out today. I included some new electrolytic capacitors, as well as two or three paper ones. I'm not sure if the paper ones still work, so if somebody could test them, that would be great.
You'll have to wait to see what else is in there.
Please only take what you need/are actually going to use. For the paper caps, this doesn't apply so much. If you just want them, take them.
I only had enough at the moment, to fill a small box, so no flat rate box yet (I didn't want to waste $5 "just because").

If anybody wants the paper caps, good or bad, call dibs now, because the first person who tests them will just toss them out if they're bad.
argelfraster will have to start the pictures thread, and, if at all possible, start the notebook (maybe leave a little space for me to write in it at the beginning when I get the box back in a few years).
I threw in a Ziploc bag, but didn't actually have time to put the loose parts in it. If you could do that, as well, that would be great.
I would recommend weighing the box before sending it off to the next person to see if a flat rate box would be cheaper or more expensive.
