BenHecks Design: Is it still good to use?

Post by spartan061 »

I am new to this hobby, and in Bens book there are 2 designs. The hand built case, and the CNC case. Im wondering if I should use the hand built case design, or should I make my own case using the ZN45? I would like to know if anything should be added to the original design or what, or if I should just use what it says to do. Also, I noticed that the design in the book, the screen is quite dim. Should I do the 4 LED mod to the screen, and how would that affect the total design if I use the Hand built case design? Thanks! :D

go with a zn-40. Zn-45 is too big and the parts for the hand biult the parts may be hard to acuire.

Well, I can just order the case + decals from Ben himself. And I really enjoy its design, especcially the games going all the way in the case. But what needs to be updated from the instructions so it is more modern, as the design is a few years old. If it is quite a bit that needs to be changed, i'll settle for the Zn- 40.

Not much, actually. There are newer LED mods now, but the case itself is still solid in design.

Sweet, thanks. I actually REALLY like Bens design, looks Retro and nice. Im guessing I should skip the LED mod guide in the book and use a more recent way to do it? In the book he uses 3 LEDs, but on these forums I see 4 LEDs, wich im guessing works better :P .
