Atari CX80 - I need help

Post by Scorp.ius »

Hi!

I bought an Atari CX80 Trak-Ball.

Unfortunately it does not work with my Atari2600 and Missile Comand. the cursor just moves around in a wierd way. I have used the JS (=Joystick) mode of the Trak-Ball and I know that the TB is not working on the 2600 ;)

So I opened the device and now I think it has been modded for some reason.

There is a cut on the circuit board, and I am not sure if every wire is on place it belongs to.

So my question. can anyone post some pics of an unmodded CX80?

Here is a pic of my CX80:

near the blue wire you see the cut on the board - on the upper side there is written BLUE but a black wire is soldered to it, while the blue one is on a different spot.

Actually, I think that that wire is "violet" which would mean it goes to the right pad.

Perhaps the blue wire is the one that goes to the underside of those resistors (?) near the cut trace (are you sure thats a cut trace?)

Anyways, its a Rev A board, so it could just be a modification to the design... I know at my work we have to apply like 5 changes to Rev A boards to bring them up to rev 2 before we can think about using them. Traces are indeed cut in the process.
