2600 Voltage drop issues

I've sent an e-mail to Rekarp, but he's not replying yet. I bought some mod kits off him, and installed one in a 4-switcher. With it installed, the 7805 is only putting out 2V, and the AC adapter is only putting out 6V. When I disconnected the 5V line on the mod circuit, the readings were 5V on the 7805, and 10V on the AC adapter.

So it seems my problem is that the circuit is too much for the power supply. It's 9V 500mA. If I replace the 7805 with a newer one, will it handle the load better? Or is there another component that will take the place of the 7805 and be more efficient?

This wouldn't be my atari would it? I think some 7805s do accept a bigger load.

Yes, it is. I sent an e-mail to you last night. I'll look through my stuff and check data sheets on-line to see if I have any that are better.

I had an Idea. what if you get 2 7805 regulators. And two adapters. one for the video mod and one for the atari. That would be fine for me.

or better yet, use a 5v power adapter for the video mod and leave the other supply for the atari alone.

Out of curiousity, do you have a PS2 hooked up where you will be hooking up the Atari? Then, I could use a USB cord to power the AV mod. It would save you getting stuck with two wall warts.

I do have a ps2 but I recieved it broken without hookups. So basically no. I wouldn't mind two wall warts, though. It really isn't a problem for me.

Ah. Well, I was inspired this morning, and I'm gonna be logging off and trying something that I think sounds promising. I'll let you know tonight how that goes.

Phat or Slim PS2? I know I have a 3rd party set of Composite AV cords I'll just throw in the box, and I MIGHT have an AC adapter.

K. I didn't make it to the shop last night, so I'm still not sure on the AC adapter, but I already threw the AV cords in the box.

Hey Tib I finally got to your email. I would check for shorts on the mod board. Sounds like there is something bridged there.
