I might be trying again.

Post by Gump-in-space »

So... my old portable is in the closet right now in a cardboard box in peices. I have torn that thing up so bad I don't think it works any more. Today, I went to the thrift store and found a really cool little screen. It's a Sony Watchman from 1984 that looks like this: http://www.guenthoer.de/doku/werbung-sonyfd20.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It's black and white, and works perfectly. It even has a built in audio and video jack, but because I don't have the right cord, I can only get video at the moment, and I was playing black and white madden a minute ago. :) I also have the rechargable battery I got at radio shack.

So my question is, should I try again with the Genesis or try a different system? I still have my model 2 that I trashed, I have a model 3 in good shape, or I could go off the wall and use an Atari Flashback 2.

Do an Atari. The lack of color is not a big deal on those.

I have always thought it would be cool to do a portable that was actually possible to build back then... You know, mini CRT, lead acid batteries...

I'll do the Atari next time. The Genesis 3's form factor is too good to pass up.

But... Why waste a Gen 3 on a B/W screen that small? :(

If you're doing a genny 3, use a 3.5" COLOR screen!

Agreed, anything newer than NES looks like crap on B/W TVs. Do an Atari or a Flashback2. It would work perfectly with that old screen.

I'm flat broke guys. I only paid $3 for this screen, and I'm going to use it on the Genesis for the competition. When I can get a color screen, I'll replace the old one and put the B&W on the flashback.

Actually, I don't need to shread it to use it. It has a video in port already and I have wired up an external speaker for the console.
