Button Unresponsiveness

Well, I've been playing brawl lately, and have been looking to get into the competitive scene, but my controller really isn't working out for me. I'm using a wavebird, and a few buttons and the C-stick are really unresponsive sometimes. Is there a way to fix this? I was thinking some electrical contact cleaner, but wasn't sure. I don't think it's the wireless signal, because I'm literally right next to me Wii, and there isn't anything really interfering except my router and cellphone. (I'm running on channel 10 too, just in case) Any ideas?

i think it would just be easier to bye a new countroller. the wii is so complicated

You mean "buy" a new controller.

It's not a wii controller though. It's a gamecube controller. I know they don't cost that much, but I'm not exactly in a spot to be spending cash everywhere.

I have a GC controller that can be parted if need be.

Check the soldering around the pot on the C stick. One wrong drop on its face may have cracked it.

Well, definitely buy a wired controller if you're gonna play competitively. There's no such thing as competitive Brawl in my eyes though - they noobified it.

They n00bified SSB starting with Melee.

Anyway,
Wireless controllers are my worst enemy.
I traded my wireless 360 controller for a wired one, because I hated it so much.

If you can fix it, do it.
If not, get a wired controller.

Melee > SSB > Brawl

Melee is much more competitive than either of them, competitive brawl is....meh. Had my hopes up, too!

Yeah, get a wired GC one, cheap, easy to find. Wavebirds are nice though.

If not, any standard one will do, for someone who hangs around here, chaning plastic color isn't hard.

One other thing, if you really want a quality controller, I'd shoot for one of those white wired GC controller that came out for the wii: 2 reasons

1. White is easiest to paint.
2. I'll bet you $5 that the joysticks are the same type as in the classic controller and the nunchuck. Why? Because they are completely compatible with the GC controllers, I've desoldered them and swapped them before, and they work great. And I doubt Nintendo would use the older stuff, anyways.

I've found that most N64 games are better made than their GC counterparts, but I have the same opinion. Melee>Original Brawl I've never played.

Wireless controllers are sometimes okay, sometimes not. That's what I've found anyway.

If I spend the money to import it from japan, I'd probably not paint it. (Maybe do an LED mod to give it a Wii-mote feel though) Maybe I'll open it up and check all the contacts, play with the pots a little bit to see if there is anything stuck in them. I should probably also check the batteries too since I have no idea how old they are.

For the record, of all wireless GC controllers, the wavebird is best, hands down.

Of course. 1st party Nintendo accessories that are actually useful are always good quality. I didn't even know there were any other wireless ones. (I'm sure someone will now link me to one. )
