NES portable advice?

Post by oldfella1962 »

My son is trying to convert a Nintendo NES into a portable. Our only hold-up is the screen. We're trying to find a used LCD screen with standard AV ports to substitute for a TV screen. Any advice?

The screens they made for the playstation a few years ago are generally inexpensive and work with most systems, the NES included. Look for one on eBay, it shouldn't be more than $50.

also, Toys R Us may have them. They were clearanced, and some of them are in stock. If you don't see them, ask if there are any in the back. They should have them for $35. If they don't have it, try looking for a Hip Gear screen. Those are about the same price, but smaller.

I'll be honest with you - I would have never guessed that.

A great place for PSone screens is GameStation (if you have one) and your letting your son portablize  My parents aren't like that, and i'm 13! I can take care of myself!

thanks for the advice. The PS1 gscreen doesn't have ports for the cables, according to the guy at EB Games. I will try Toys-R-Us near my home. I am not an electronics expert, by any means.

You have to modify the input so you can plug the NES into it.

Believe it or not, the plug that goes into the Playstation pulls a composite video signal. There are instructions elsewhere on this site on how to hook anything up to it.

(to all you forum veterans here: I know this may sound basic, but this guy sounds like he's just starting. To tell you the truth, I am yet to build something myself! :) I'm thinking a GOAC system with a Hip Gear screen. Any prices/advice?)

I'm thinking Radica, Hip Gear Screen, Time, Batteries, Money... all at once

Metallica?

I just got a Radica yesterday, its pretty cool, I hate the controller though, only one solution: make it portable.
