PSP harddrive,

basically I want a solution to the harddrive inside a PSP/usb host support.
why? Because the last guy that did it didnt leave much clues for the rest of his (PVP_knight or whatever his name was),
to accomplish this I know you need:

Irshell/usbhostfs.prx working on a PSP and a decent knowledge of USBhostfs :

harddrive (30GB or more) that will be roughly the same size as psp slim umd drive:

Need a solution (any ideas?)

A tiny (affordable as in not $3000) linux computer board that can run USBhostfs:

Unsure, I I need some help from someone with a bit more knowledge on them "cough" marshallh "cough", I've looked at quite a few but a lot of them are chewed up by things I have no use for, all I need is two Usb ports with the capability of usb device/host. and It must be USB 2.0 for slave and master ports, processor needs to be more than 333mhz or else you could experience lag when playing games. preferably low power draw as well.

I know this has been done in the form of a chunky wireless (max speed 54mb/s) version but I dont want that. Basically Im lookin for the possibility of a Computer on module that will fit in the psp slim UMD drive and allow me to connect external usb devices (flashdrive, Ipod etc.) to it and then using usbhost it will be detected on the PSP. The internal computer will also add many other capabilities (external controllers/multasking/dual lcd's) but im only interested in the harddrive one at the moment. If this could work then the possibilities are endless.

This can be done with gumstix computers and such, but will be expensive. REALLY expensive, a few hundred dollars at least.

For hard drives, you need 1.8" hard drives, the same kind that are in ipod. I believe they go up to 160gb within a reasonable price range.

If you can wait till mid July, there will be a much easier solution available that will not even need CFW. I contacted the maker and have a sample unit on the way for $31 USD.

Odd, it does seem as though he left those forums entirely. However, there is a demo on Youtube with the Gumstix running USBHostFS and connected to the PSP by him, so it did work in the end.

It is a microSD plug that goes to a USB host box. Attach any USB storage device, and it reads it, then tells the device it is an SD card and translates the signals.

By using this with a MicroSD to Memory Stick adapter, you could hook up a USB hard drive and have it read the USB hard disk as a memory stick. Load up the games, and you are set!

I think mine came today, I will be trying it out in the next few days.

That looks epic, but i hope It doesn't have some gay catch like memory limit or something.

Doesn't look like its usb 2.0 therefore your limited to like 12mb/s, plus its max 32GB but that just could be because phones generally only read up to 32GB SDHC limit

All I can tell you is what is available from the manufacturer’s web-site (please see below)
It has been designed specifically to work with portable USB Memory devices so the USB Hard Drive would be an unknown entity.

No, there's plenty of intelligence at acidmods... It's just that we take more pleasure in cosmetic mods than things like portablizing.

He didn't abandon it, he deemed it to be not possible unless you had extruding pieces.

Also, the best way to do a harddrive-ish mod is to remove the umd drive, strip down a CR-3100 of its plastic casing, insert 2x 32 gb SD cards, and put it in the space where the umd drive normally is. That's 64 gb's of memory, for about $80-$100

Yeah, you're good for intelligence as long as the person you're talking to has over 350 posts, lol... But the photofast has something like 10-15 mb/s, so it's pretty good. (better than some mspd's)
