WIP Worklog: EplisioNES *PICTURES WORKING*

Post by J.D »

It's Eplision-NES, I couldn't come up with a unique name.

Well, because nobody makes worklogs anymore, I decided to make one. This is my first project.

First I have the NES.

Taking it apart little by little...actually it only took my about 10 minutes

Got that finished. I tried to get the NES to work without the case initially, but then I figured out that I had to keep the cartridge in a certain position.

I had to stack a bunch of cartridges on SMB3 to get it to connet with the NES properly.

Now I have a couple newbie questions.

Can I use a PS1 screen for a screen?
How can I connect the power source to some rechargeable batteries?
The huge box thing - I can get rid of that, as long as the AV components are working, right? I heard that the box was mostly RF, which I don't use.

Thanks for your time! I'll be updating this periodically until it's finished.

Really? They work just fine for me. Are you using Internet Explorer or Firefox (or as my 60 year old computer teacher calls it - Foxfire)?

They work for you prolly because it's in your temporary internet files and/or cache.

Don't use google mail to host use http://www.imageshack.us or something.

I've found this Casio screen (http://www.amazon.com/Casio-TV-880-Port ... 151&sr=8-7) but the PSone Screen seems better. Which should I get?

I have that pocket tv, grabbed one on ebay for about $10, it isn't all that great. For NES I would normally say that it's adequate, but since you are going with the original nes board and have room to spare you might as well go with the psone screen.

Does anyone have experience with the PSone screen and the NES? Is there a tutorial? Oh wait, does the PSone screen have AV output? I don't have any experience with the PSone screen, and I'm planning on picking one up from the local used video game shop around this neck of the woods (Malternative).

Yes.
It's never the same for different batteries, but basically you need a +5V source. You run battery power (7.2V-35V) to get it.
You can get rid of that but you need to build a video amp.

In any case, worklogs are nice. I like to read them.

But for the love of *insert favorite deity, celebrity, or food here* please read some guides and maybe a sticky or two. Maybe buy Ben's book, but do that before reading the stickies. Reading worklogs is a good source of info too.

Get the psone screen. That thing is way to small for a decent portable.
