Well, I'm going to have to attempt something of this sort for myself. An LED backlight would be very nice on my GBP. Does it have to be the silver model?

Not to hijack, but I have another question: how does this procedure work? Here's what I am guessing you have to do (based off reading your posts, which show the finished product and no making-of shots)

1: remove reflective backing on GBP screen.
2: replace reflective coating with light diffuser (from DS maybe?)
3: Place opaque plastic behind diffuser

so you wind up with a sandwich, with plastic on bottom, diffuser in middle, and glass screen on top

And where does the LED go? And I have never had a DS screen apart before, where do I get this diffuser layer from? How do I remove it without damaging it? What's a good way to remove the reflective layer on the GBP screen? It seems a bit too vague for my liking.
