You will need some diffusion plastic and some diffusion sheets to make the light spread, then to even it out. The easiest/cheapest way is to use the panel from a DS Lite screen.

nope, i've been trying to do it for a long time, I want yours to have a really good one, then modding the others for passing the time seeing as I found 10 really cheap while doing volunteer work
why can I not see whats on the screen.
On my GBA I
Peeled off the foam and metal on the back of the screen
Then I took lexan and a led, and put it behind and cant see anything that would be on the screen

Do I need the sheets to see whats on the LCD or to make it look nice?

Wait, you're using a GBA? You can't backlight them, they wash out. Only frontlights work on them and GBCs.

that's a much more specific process. You need the light panel from a GBA SP, as it's a perfectly crafted piece of plastic with lines evenly engraved that distribute the light downwards. Then, you need AR film.

I made a ridiculously large guide about how to do this, and you're not even reading it. This is why I won't be bothering with a backlit GBP/DMG guide any time ever.

If you want to go "the awful way" you should stop, as the SP is the only reliable source of finding the plastic panel that will diffuse the light. You have absolutely no idea what you're doing, and should seriously stop.

I don't give a damn about your "proof", this isn't rudimentary geometry. The AR film is hilariously easy to find, and isn't going to distribute your light at all.

The Sp isnt the only reliable way. I took a 2 led strip from a cell phone and the took a piece of cd case plastic and sanded it on both sides with very fine sand paper then the most important step was to line the edges of the plastic with the shiny side of tin foil so the light that would escape out the side reflects back into that panel making it very even.

Are you talking about a backlight, or a frontlight? The SP has been the only reliable way to frontlight anything, do you have pictures of your method?

I was originally using this panel to back light a gbp but when i was removing the back film I damaged one of the ribon cables so the image had some missing lines because of this I put that project on hold till i get a new gbp but i already had a gbc so I decided to use the panel to frontlight it. The panel diffuses the light very evenly while still being clear enough to allow the display to be seen easily. Right now I have the panel on the gameboy and can play it without the light on just fine but with it on it is to washed out because I dont have any AR film to put on it. I wont be able to post any pictures till the weekend or later because it is exam week. Palmertech I can wright you a more detailed explanation if you want, it pretty simple, just message me if you want to.

There are 2 dead pixels, and no glue whatsoever, just a nice clean LCD, with some polarized film or something, 3 white leds, 3 resistors, and some glass
