Theoretically speaking....

Post by mikeyg »

Would it be possible for me to have a ps2 and an xbox in the same laptop? Is it going to be pretty easy?
Also 100th post. :)

That's completely dependent on how large you want the case to be and if you're cool with two disc drives.

you dont really need both disc drives. tsop flash the xbox, and put in a laptop harddrive and ftp games onto it. saves a lot of space. 8)

Cool. I want to know how thick do you think it would be. What would I need to put in between the two systems? I wouldn't care about having two disc drives.

It would probably be Pretty thick.

The consoles arent the size they are just to waste plastic.
The Xbox is humongous.

it would be a bit thicker than an xbox, and as wide as an xbox placed next to a ps2
Anyways, there is a VGA adapter for both xbox and ps2, so you can connect that to your screen ( if you are using a pc monitor ). This adapter uses power from which ever system is on, so that that systems game will be displayed and the others won't ( obviously )

the xbox board can be slimmed down to under 1 inch, and ps2 slim is tiny anyway, so, depending on how thick the casing is, it could be under 2 inches thick.

thats what she said!

Also so this isn't spam; yeah the xbox can be slimmed down, and if you remove the power brick and make a different case for it, the xbox will be much smaller.

You'd have to do some custom machining for the heatsinks on both the PS2 and Xbox (how about one big chunk of aluminium between both boards (with the xbox pcb mounted upside down) with heatpipes running through the centre, so you basically just have one heatsink, shared between the two systems - obviously don't try and run them both at the same time

i would use laptop heatsinks. the kind with the fan and the heattubes going over to the part that sits on the processor. 8)
