Re: Portable N64
Don't put 12v in the 3.3v line.
Sure! Use a psone screen, and use a third party controller any put a gamecube joystick on it, it makes the n64 much more fun. As stated above, the n64 uses two voltages, 12v and 3.3v. The 12v line is VERY flexible, it will go anywhere from 35v to 7v or 6v. The 3.3v line however is very, very picky. 3.5v is enough to fry it
If you are going to use the jumper pak it will go down to 2.89v, but if you are using the expasion pak is quits at around 3.1v. Use decent amperage batteries too, don't settle for short battery life like some
Also, buy ben's book off of amazon.com, it teaches you how to solder and LED mod the psone screen, and it teaches you about electronics in general! And here is a nice diagram to wire it all together! http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=14556

Re: Portable N64
First portable cases are always pretty large, I'd try making one in the n64 case. If you want a picture, I can get you one of a good portable design in the case, and you don't even have to relocate the cartslotMozz12 wrote:Thanks a bunch dude, do you recomend anything else. Re: Portable N64
It's very difficult to make a case unless you are completely devoted to it. Most people buy premade cases from polycase.com
The most common for n64 is the zn-45

Re: Portable N64
You want either Lithium Ion or Lithium polymer (maybe even lithium magnesium) at 7.2-7.4v and has 6000mah or higher. Ebay has some really good deals on camcorder batteries.Mozz12 wrote:I want to do the polycase, but im very new to all of this and i need like exact details because i dnt want to go tearing into my n64 and ruin it lmao. Re: Portable N64
Like i get a really good discount, like the most expensive battery we sell is 100 dollars, i would get it for like 40 bucks lol. If there are ANY parts I could get from best buy i would most likely prefer it.

I'm not sure that you can get ANY parts besides the battery thereMozz12 wrote:Like i get a really good discount, like the most expensive battery we sell is 100 dollars, i would get it for like 40 bucks lol. If there are ANY parts I could get from best buy i would most likely prefer it.

You would need two of these and a protection circuit, but much better than the best I could find on best buy :http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 0289357568
That is just rediculis.
another choice for batteries:http://cgi.ebay.com/Battery-Canon-BP945 ... m1c521c353 These have a built in protection circuit and such.
