I know for a fact that mineral oil is not corrosive to electronic components. I have personally built a computer submerged in mineral oil and it’s been running great for about 5 months. Keeps the computer really cool and quiet. (granted I have a pump circulating the oil through radiators.)
That’s the site I got the idea from. That might have some useful information for your project. It really shouldn’t over heat. The oil does a great job of absorbing and dissipating heat, especially if there is water surrounding the tank containing the oil. You would get the best heat transfer is you were to use a glass tank.

Those of you who care about strangers you meet online will be glad to know I've passed my exams. Woop! This means I've returned to the dolphin. I am about to move the memory card slot (A). Are any of the pins unecessary? Do the shiny metal tabs that go underneath the card need to stay for grounding?
Are there any potential mistakes I might make that I should watch out for?

Woop! After getting friendly with my multimeter, I've mapped out all the solder points for the controller ports and removed them from their circuit board. This was done very "delicately", and a whole 4 of the 24 contacts stayed in their ports. Yay!
I noticed when mapping out the contacts that lower central contacts of ports 3 and 4 don't seem to lead anywhere. Is that supposed to be the case or have I missed something?
