I made a batch of video game remixes with FL Studio. Are they good?
Hornet Man remix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4XR0yaeHJU" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Everything else: http://sfmusic.weebly.com/vgremix.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I usually use the name Swordfyre for my internet name, by the way.
What do you think of my remixes?

Weeell... I get the feeling that you didn't put any real effort into this yourself. You just downloaded a bunch of MIDI's, imported them into FL and choose appropriate synth patches. Amirite?
Apart from that, several of the files suffer from severe clipping. (the amplitude is higher than the soundcard can handle, so the tops of the waveform is clipped off) The MM song in the video is pretty clean in this aspect at least.
I know it's not what you want to hear, but back to the drawing board.

My remixes are based off of MIDIs, but I do everything myself. I base the sounds off of synths and slightly edit them. I change the tempo, add some notes, etc. And you're right, my songs do suffer clipping. I don't know how to fix that. I just have the crap demo version of FL Studio 7, but I don't know if that's the problem.nitro2k01 wrote:Weeell... I get the feeling that you didn't put any real effort into this yourself. Oh, and does anyone know of a free MIDI composer besides crap Anvil Studio? I want to make my own compositions (even though I only know Bass clef - Trombone player)
Edit: I guess the "S" word isn't used around here. It just censors it to "crap".
Re: What do you think of my remixes?
Not to sound like a douche, but how can you claim that you do everything yourself when all you do is to add a note here and there and adjust a few parameters in a preset?J.D wrote:My remixes are based off of MIDIs, but I do everything myself. Try transcribing a song by hand, note by note, and then create synth patches from the ground up from the "init" preset. THEN you can rightfully say you did everything yourself.
Use a so called "limiter" or "compressor" device. And even so you'll probably need to durn down the volume a bit. Look for youtube videos on mastering. Making music sound good is a whole science.J.D wrote:And you're right, my songs do suffer clipping. I don't know how to fix that. Yeah. That's a pretty silly wordfilter.J.D wrote:Edit: I guess the "S" word isn't used around here. It just censors it to "crap".
