My "m" key keeps falling off.

Post by Kurt_ »

Well, that's about it. On my laptop, my "m" key has lost one of the little prongs that keeps it clipped securely in place. I have no clue where it went. It's usable, but it slips off every now and then. Any idea how I can replace such a tiny part?

Did the key itself lose a prong, or the switch it attaches to? If it's the key, I'd say just buy a new one. Surely someone sells laptop parts like that.

Why not pop off a key that you don't use from the keyboard and put it in the "m" space and use that instead? You can then sand off the silk-screen from the key and pen in "m". The removed key can be sanded to remove its "m" and glued onto the other space, so it works, but you don't need it anyway.

you dont have to sand anything the, cap comes off the key. Im missing ~ and "right click" as they have both been sacrificed to save 'm'.

Why is it always the "m" key?

Also, I've never had a key fall off. Ever.

I just found it on my keyboard. Holy crap, that's a waste of space.

Yeah, I noticed that, and while resizing I made it a little clearer what I meant. You can happened upon it at the wrong time.

I have the same problem, but not on my "M" key, I'm having problems with my spacebar on my laptop.

It works, but sometimes it does not register so some words are stuck together.
