Gaming computer (for a friend)
My friend will be getting a computer for graduation, but he would like to build it himself. I told him I would ask everyone on Benheck and see what you all would recommend for a setup. His budget is $1000.

Re: Gaming computer (for a friend)
Here's what I would do, even though with shipping it might be a little over budget.
- Foxconn FlamingBlade GTI LGA 1366 - ~$180
Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz - ~$280
OCZ Reaper HPC 6GB (3 x 2GB) - ~$114
BFG Tech GeForce GTX 260 - ~$170
Case - ~$60
Power Supply - ~$70
Hard Drive - ~$90
DVD Burner - ~$23
Why is it that every time I post in a thread, it dies?

That GTX 260 is a Core 192...ZN13 wrote:Here's what I would do, even though with shipping it might be a little over budget.Subtotal is about $990, but there're $60 dollars in mail in rebates. So $930 plus ~$30 shipping (to my house, at least) totals out to around $960.

Go for an ATI Radeon HD4870. Runs cooler and faster than a Core 216.
