No matter what the brand, if you want to play games on it make sure it does NOT have Intel graphics! :P

While researching a little I saw that they had an Asus Laptop for $899 (A little over my budget) that has some pretty good specs (I think?). Although it is a little big...

Intel® Centrino® 2 Core 2 Duo Mobile 2.13GHz
4g RAM
320G HDD
NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GS
15.4" LCD Widescreen

Weight: 7.7 Lbs
Width: 14.8"

Opinions?

I havent heard bad things about Asus.
And I messed around with an Asus at Best Buy and I really like feel.
Now, you're doin' it right. Core 2 Duo, GeForce 9800M Gs, 4GB ram? That's decent.

Intel CPUs are good, better for overclocking, but more expensive. AMD has more heat, but costs less.

Nvidia is awesome.

ATI is okay.

Intel graphics suck ass.

And that is a good laptop... But, keep in mind, for that price, you could actually build TWO desktop rigs of equal/more power, and keep one at each house. ;) But yes, it is actually a nice gaming laptop.

Yeah well,
I would rather have one thing to keep everything on.

I lose schoolwork enough as it is... 8)

I paid $1300 for mine new from Lenovo.

Lenovo T61, 14.1" Widescreen (16:10, 1400 x 900 resolution, antiglare), 3 GB DDR2 RAM, C2D T8300 2.4 GHz, Nvidia Quadro NVS 140M 512MB Graphics Card, 100 GB HDD, CD Burner (It's all I needed), etc etc (the usual bells and whistles. nub, card slot...)

It was worth it.

A Quadro? Are you planning on doing CAD or something?

Workstation laptops generally have workstation graphics cards. My HP one has an ATI FireGL 5000 (it's four years old now).

Actually, I AM. I'm in engineering. I've already used a 3D modeling program and such. It'd be hell with lag. And so would games.

But to be honest, the choice was that or integrated intel graphics.
