old playstation screen?

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

old playstation screen?

Post by markus »

i just got a ps1 screen off ebay. sadly, it was the old one. i am just wondering, is it about the same to hack up this one instead of the newer one? is it about the same diffficulty to hack? i just don't want to spend another $50 on this. sorry, i am a noob, and this is my first project, so i just want advice. i know it is possible, but i just want to know other things about it. :?

i mean the one for the older ps1. i think so, at least. it doesn't look like the one ben heck showed in the book. it has no volume/brightness buttons. only knobs, which are on the side of it. it also looks bigger than the other one and looks like the system slides on top.

It might just be an off-brand. If so, it will probably work, but the screen quality won't be as nice as the official PSone screen.

yeahh... it is an off brand. it says its not licensed, endorsed or manufactured by sony.. i can still use it though, its a 5 inch screen and works about the same as the other one. i think.. the screen is black and white ish, but there is some color, and i can't look at it directly, one from an angle.

i took the screen and everything apart, so no actual screen picture, and my computer won't upload the pics, it says "Could not upload attachment to ./files/11570_719c07c5069c723bc0e40c1a1bc158bb."

You have to upload to an image host, like photobucket or imageshack. I don't use either one though, I use filehive.
