How far should I over clock?
I have a gbc that i overclocked from around 8 to around 15, i like the speed but want more, how far can i go. Would i have to have heatsinks if i push it farther or would it just crash no matter what.

The highest I ever remember reading about was 69mhz, I don't think that there were any problems at that speed.Nortier wrote:I have a gbc that i overclocked from around 8 to around 15, i like the speed but want more, how far can i go. This site says there is no speed difference between 16MHz and 37MHz, so you're probably about maxed out.
Re: How far should I over clock?
thats a shame i was really hoping for 3 or 4 times speed. But i still want to see the other article that claims over 60, do you remember where you saw it.

I say overclock it at least 2ghz, then film it when you first turn it on. it would probably be an epic asplosion!

Not an article. Some older member, perhaphs sharp saphire or schmelly fart? Either way, they said there was no difference between a couple smaller crystals I believe.Nortier wrote:thats a shame i was really hoping for 3 or 4 times speed. i searched and found that palmertach had said that thier is no difference. Since ultra high speeds arent possible what other mods should i try for my lime green gbc

Re: How far should I over clock?
69mhz is the highest that it can go without crashing completely, I was the crazy guy who did that.
Unfortunately, it refuses to go any faster than about 2.5 times speed.
Not much you can do about that, sadly.
I suggest you get a broken GBA SP off ebay for cheap if you want to frontlight it.
Also, get rubberized grip paint. It is awesome for handhelds, I did a GBC with it myself.

Excellent

I think im going to buy a broken sp off ebay soon but i just had an idea is it possible to wire a pententiometer to the crystal oscillator so you could adjust the speed of the game.

Re: How far should I over clock?
Nope, crystals do not work like that. If you want to that, you could build a variable oscillator, or just buy a GBAaccelerator (They work on any model gameboy).

Excellent
