PSP phat buggy analog stick

Post by Aguiluz »

Long story short: My analog stick is erratic. It moves slow, sometimes moves on it's own and sometimes won't respond to input at all.

I cleaned the contacts, repositioned the grip, opened the analog stick to clean the resistive insides, helped for a while.

I guess this is an alignment problem between the analog stick's contacts and the rubber thing. It was working perfectly until I played DJMAX on it. Then a few hours of D-pad, face button and trigger mashing later it was back to broke.

Well, My best guess would in fact be the rubber piece that connects the analog stick to the mobo. The best fix short of buying a new one would be to hardwire the gold contacts of the analog stick straight to the mobo with some 30 AWG kynar wire.

My best bet would be ribbon cable. 8)

Thin ribbon cable.

I coated the analog contacts with solder and it somehow worked.

Triple post, but W/E...

The analog has done it again. *sigh* After just ONE song in DJMAX and tapping the DPAD and buttons to the notes, the analog is bugged again. *sigh*

It seems that the analog is jostled out of place when playing.

im hoping someone has already mentioned this but the screw on the back where the analog stick is has to be very very tight and the one at the top on the same side as the analog should be tight too that solves that same problem everytime for me

:D my favorite... but still, ribbon cable or some wire should do the trick.

I dived in and snapped off the metal bracket that holds the rubber, ripped the silicon rubber to bits and installed ribbon wire.

It works.
