Oh, I've got "Half-Life." I bought it in November when they had it on sale for $0.98. Runs just fine, but I haven't finished it.
My graphics chipset is, I think, Intel GMA 945, or something like that. (Though that might be my motherboard, in which case my graphics chipset is GMA 950.) I can barely run "Team Fortress 2" in DX9 mode (forcing DX8 mode does absolutely nothing) with settings on low if there are few people in the server; "Portal" runs fairly well until the later levels, same settings; "Half-Life 2," as mentioned, can't get me past the into sequence on any settings; "HL2: Lost Coast" runs horribly even on low specs... haven't bothered testing "Episode One" or "Two" except to gain access to the "Episode Two" GCF to get one of the songs from the soundtrack out of it.
I finished "Half-Life 2."

EP2 runs on the same engine version (Source V3?) as TF2, so should run the same way. EP1 might not run though, it had random crashes (though playable, I lost a lot of progress sometimes) on my old rig. EP1 has the same engine version as Lost Coast and CS Source I think.
Don't even try to run Garry's Mod, it's worse than Crysis. Well not really, but it's pretty bad.
Do you have any expansion slots availible? Or is it a laptop? Even a $100 videocard can drastically improve a computer's gaming performance.

It's a laptop. Trust me, if upgrading my graphics card was an option, I'd have done it long ago.

Wait you can't upgrade graphics card on a laptop?Twilight Wolf wrote:It's a laptop. Trust me, if upgrading my graphics card was an option, I'd have done it long ago.
I haven't been here in awhile, and looking back it's one of the worst ideas I ever had. I'm back and I'll be here for awhile, I was quite active 1 year ago and I hope to become that again.

Only extremely high-end laptops (which would have come with a better GPU to begin with), and even then you have to find a card designed for that model family.

Well that sucks. I'm not going to tell you to sell your PS3 and get a new PC though, because yesterday some jerks said I should buy a 360 and I just wanted to kick them in the... you know what comes next. Stick to the platform you have, because if you think about it there's probably a reason you chose it in the first place. Actually I'm just trying to sound more poetic than I actually am.
