Stamp Prices

Post by limpport »

They've gone up again, to 44 cents apiece. I just wanted to let you all know before you tried sending stuff without the right amount of postage.

This seemed rather sudden, too. I had not heard anything in the news at all about it.

So it costs a whopping $2 more for every 100 letters I send! :shock: Considering the only things I really mail are monthly student loan payments, that's a whole $0.24 a year! Oh noes that extra gumball at the supermarket! D:

:lol:

Seriously though, the company I work for part-time just bought a roll of 42 cent stamps last week. I had to go and buy 78 2 cent stamps. :lol: Unfortunately the post office won't let you trade the old stamps in for new ones (pay the difference, of course). Let's hear it for those Forever Stamps! Save that $2 every 100 letters!

In Canada the rates never stay the same. So now they offer these "permanent" stamps that float, but apparently they can render them useless too.

Kinda... the US Post office cannot raise the price of a stamp beyond the rate of inflation, so it's more of a convenience issue than it is an investment one. http://blogs.wsj.com/economics/2009/05/ ... er-stamps/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

They still offer some of the best service and cheapest shipping still.

They announced it in January, I think.

It's because there's more inflation
