25? They do have different plans, your parents are just cheap. 60GB/mo Cogeco/Rogers.
Hey, sup?
Re: Piracy! Those of us who get busted...
I have a 1Meg connection and has 25GB cap. It costs a lot as is.

Re: Piracy! Those of us who get busted...
I'm at $70/month for 16 Mb(2MB) download speed and 250GB bandwidth. Internet providers are crooks.

Though my ISP is kind enough to share my internet with everyone else in the neighborhood...
So, I've actually broken 30Mb before.
I average 5Mb.
Ain't that peachy?

Shaw High-Speed
Don't remember the speed or bandwidth. But IIRC you guys are claiming you get ripped off, yet you actually get a lot of speed and a lot of bandwidth or whatever. I don't see how you could possibly use 250GB a month, unless you have a lot of people that love to steal HD movies.

Thread officially de-railed but I do like where it's going. I'm not sure at all about my limits for speed or bandwidth but it works well enough for me. My cable internet and TV is all on one package and I'm thinking about ditching the TV part because I never watch anything that's on TV.

Or, if you're like me, are working through watching the back-catalogue of Rev3 shows, I just downloaded five episodes of TRS (small XviD, mind you) at about 350MB a pop, once you factor in ~10 podcasts or so and half of those you're watching a back-catalogue of 15 episodes a month, it eats up your download a ton.XCVG wrote:I don't see how you could possibly use 250GB a month, unless you have a lot of people that love to steal HD movies.

Our DSL is about 1.5 MB down / 256k up for $40 a month. (Verizon.) No bandwidth cap, as far as I know. (The speed's pretty constant, but then again the local phone exchange is a less-than-10-minute walk away
)
Can't wait for FiOS. They're already installing the main lines in my town, and they say they'll have 90% of the town done this summer. (Thankfully the state made Crapcast let Verizon come through with their TV service. Crapcast "gives" us 40 snowy analog channels for $65 a month.
Basic digital cable would be even more than that. FiOS TV and Internet, including all the necessary converter boxes we'd need, would only be $15-$20 a month more than our current setup, for more than 10x more stuff.)

Oh man, what I'd give if I had FiOS, right now I have SBC/AT&T DSL and it seriously sucks, I'm sick of 35kilobytes/sec upload, it really gets clogged when my brother plays L4D and I try playing TF2, if anyone tries using the family computer then our network pretty much shuts down.

We pay around $30 for 3mbit/512kbit AT&T service. No cap or any such nonsense, and it's worked out pretty well for us (after they fixed that problem that plagued us for around two years that would have our service dying every few hours requiring a restart of the modem
).

Re: Piracy! Those of us who get busted...
250GB monthly is NOT unreasonable AT ALL. Assuming two siblings who all download crap, that's 20 gigs a week, with 0.4 a week left for the rents.
Go rent a dvd instead of downloading bluray porn.

They make blu-ray porn? That's silly.
Re: Piracy! Those of us who get busted...
Apparently my internet has 7.5Mbps download and 512Kbps upload. 60GB transfer cap, up to 10 email and 2 IP addresses. Oh and 10 worthless extras you'll never use. At least it's only $33 a month.
